Hiring Student Refs - Apply Here

This coming fall SYSO season, we’re hiring a smaller group of refs to work with. To be considered for one of these positions, please fill out the application form (link below) and submit it by July 31. After that, we’ll pick some candidates to interview before making final decisions. We are filling around eight spots total, as well as 2 to 4 spots for Bumblebee's helpers.

To be considered, you must be in 8th-12th grade (as of the fall), you must be able to ref two to three (preferably three) games every Saturday—at 8:30 AM, 10:00 AM, and 11:30 AM (2.5 to 4-hour commitment)—and must be able to do this for at least 4 or 5 out of the 7 dates listed below.

We expect our refs to be active and vocal in creating a safe soccer game with good fundamentals. This means that you, as ref, will need to be comfortable calling out-of-bounds, off-sides, and, most importantly, fouls loudly and clearly. Additionally, we need referees to assist players with proper throw-ins, goal kicks, corner kicks, and free kicks.

Selected refs can make up to $75 per Saturday ($25 per game). Selected Bumblebee helpers will make $25 per Saturday for the one-hour program. If you can meet all these requirements and are interested in applying, please click the link below.

There will also be a final tournament on October 25, but we will schedule this later.

We’ll also maintain a short list of backup referees, in case someone becomes ill or is unable to attend. You can indicate if you would like to be on this list on the application form.
